Taman Tamadun Islam

I have long been planning to visit Taman Tamadun Islam in Kuala Terengganu and I took upon the chance during my recent trip there for a friend's wedding..

Considering that I was involved during the development phase of the park it was quite interesting as I never had the chance to see the project in its total completion before. You see, I resigned during 95% of its development stage..

Truth be told, I am proud...very proud to see it in all its grandeur..I was lucky to be involved in such a prestigious project..although there are a bit of controversy surrounding the project, the experience gained is invaluable..

The project itself is a super fast track project..with limited time that was given, to complete it on time is no easy task..apart from the Crystal Mosque that is fast becoming one of Kuala Terengganu landmark, there are other buildings such as the Convention Centre building,21 monuments and also the infrastructure works to be carried out..

This is indeed one of the most stressful project that I ever managed..In a week at least 3 times I will have dreams (maybe nightmares) about the project..To my former colleagues (you know who you are), well done guys (and gals)..

Why I Support Manchester United - What Started It

I love football..I am the kind of guy who will stay up till the wee of the morning to catch a game live on tv and goes to work half man half zombie..

Football is the national number 1 game..It does not matter how low the national team ranking is, but football remains the most beloved sport. I think legends like super mokh, spider aru, santokh singh, towkay chin aun and many other great 70's and 80's players turns me into a fan..

Then, there was also the English Football (what it was called during that time)..i don't religiously follow any team at that time..it was different compared to nowdays..there wasn't any live game every week..i suspected the game that we saw on tv is a recorded match..God knows when the match was played and then shown on the idiot box..maybe we were watching last season matches..who gives a damn..tv is a luxurious thing that time and only tok ketua kampung has one..so, every time there's a live game his house will be like mini stadium..sort of.

so how a kampung boy like me suddenly supports a team thousand of miles away? what started it is somewhat silly actually..mind you there was no internet or playstation at that time so there was always some silly games that keeps us occupied..one of the games is by high five'ing your friends with a card on both playes..let it drop and the card with pictures on it facing up is the winner..(you know the cards similar to poker cards but with pictures on it??).. anyway, my lucky card is the one with the picture of frank stapleton..and at that time he was playing for manchester united..as a way of saying thank you to him for letting me win and amassed the play cards (i won quite a bit) i'll watched everytime manchester united game was shown on telly and cheered him on..the rest as they say is history..what started as a lame excuse to support a team turned into a very passionate love affair (with manchester united la not frank stapleton..haiyooo)..

so now you know..Glory Glory Man United

my trip to kuantan

I once work in kuantan, pahang..it was lightyears ago...to be exact, it was 10 years ago..some good memories there..so, i dropped by the town on my way back to kl from kuala terengganu after attending a friend's marriage..like most malaysians do, the first thing you after is food...and having worked in kuantan before i knew some places that i usually haunt..or so i thought i knew..i guess 10 years is quite awhile....to my surprise most of the place that i usually frequented does not exist anymore..don't know what happen to them but what a pity, these places serves good food (at least to me laaa..)..if anyone in the know, hope you can shed some light to what had happened to the place:

1. Nasi Lemak Kuantan Garden(NLKG)
Used to be under the big tree near the junction opposite Satay Zul but later moved to a nearby food court. I went to the food court and its not there anymore..horror..horror..

2. Chendol Kuantan Garden
Used to share the same spot as NLKG..

3. Nasi Lemak Simple (NLS)
I think the place is called NLS but i might get it confused with another NLS in JB..The NLS in Kuantan that I am referring to was previously located near the FAM/PBNP office.

4. Sup stall in Peramu
Serves one hell of delicious spicy sup tulang..When I went there recently, the old shack had dissapeared and in its place is a humongous building, the Yayasan Pahang Building.

5. Sup Mamak
Previously located in front of Tabung Haji Building. Don't know whether its still in business or not but when I went there recently only the rojak stall is open.

Since I was very hungry at that time, I settled for any nearby stall.

6. Noki's
I went searching for Noki's the day after for my lunch and guess what..it's also not at the usual place it used to be ..i gave up and drive back to kl..wonder what might not be there the next time i visit...hmmm
